ITHORA godkänt!
by Pal on Nov.04, 2009, under Fun, Pinball

Disk crash
by Pal on May.23, 2009, under Technology
Yesterday pal.pp.se crashed. The root disk died, at only five years of age. Really sad to se a young disk die before its time…
…and I can’t wait for solid state disks to become mature (read: cheap) enough to make the whole freaking hard disk world DIE!
I’ve now spent the night with migrating everything to one of my other servers, and most of the stuff is up and running now. I might have missed some small things, and some configuration parameters might differ. If any of your stuff is broken, please let me know so I can fix it. No data was lost, so there’s nothing that can’t be fixed.
No evil without good - this means I finally got the wagon out my ass and migrated everything to a new server. That old box was meant to die anyway, even though I would have preferred to let it die under control. RIP.

My car in the news, again again
by Pal on Oct.18, 2008, under Fun
My car ended up in the news again, only days after the last time. This is the third time, after this and this. You can read the article here (picture in the slideshow in the upper right) or on the picture below. Up to the right, outside the image below, was the picture of my car.
Edit: It happened again!
My car in the news, again
by Pal on Oct.10, 2008, under Fun
Remember what happened in late 2006? My car ended up in Computer Sweden. Now, I’ve bought a new car, and it too ended up in the exact same place in the exact same paper!
Update: It happened again! And again!

Waterproof car
by Pal on Jul.01, 2008, under Other
I didn’t put the roof on the car today, and apparently it rained heavily, because when I got down to the car, there was water everywhere. I put the roof on, and removed as much water from the seats as I could. Not much more I could do than to wait for it to dry up.
Two hours later I finished work, and went down to the car. Believe me, but it was almost all dry! Apparently they build cars thinking about morons like me.
- Dry seats: Check.
- Working electronics: Check.
- Dry mats: Check.
- Dry pack of cigarrettes(!): Check.
- Small bird bath at the gear stick: Check.
- Working lighter at the pack of cigarrettes: Nope. Wet and not working.
On my todo list:
- Get a waterproof lighter.
- Remove the roof permanently.
Wherever I may work
by Pal on Dec.14, 2007, under Other
…when the client shows my bribe
I will strip off all my pride
Then in me they will confide
And I keep them satisfied
Give them all they need
…and my skills are what they crave
Of my knowledge they will rave
As they pay I stay as slave
Hired wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will
But I’ll do my time anywhere
Free to do my task anywhere
And I’ll redesign anywhere
Wherever I may work
Where my invoice head is work
…and the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
And my wonder skills have grown
By myself and all alone
I ask no one
…and my ties are where they pay
The more I do the more I gain
On the legion path I reign
Hired wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will
But I’ll do my time anywhere
Free to do my task anywhere
And I’ll redesign anywhere
Wherever I may work
Where my invoice head is work
But i’ll do my time anywhere
Free to do my task anywhere
And I’ll take my work anywhere
Wherever I may work
Where my invoice head is work
Carved upon my stone
My body lie, but still the pay
Wherever I may work
How to not sell a car
by Pal on Aug.08, 2007, under Other
A few days ago I was at a car shop in Skärholmen.
- Hi, I want to test drive that GT.
- Sorry, it’s not for driving.
- Eh.. OK. Btw, 314 000? At opel.se it says 299 000?
- Yes, but 314 000 feels more correct.
Today I was at Bilforum in Enköping.
- Hi, I’m thinking about buying a GT.
- We don’t have one at the moment, but we ordered a couple of them in April, so they’re on their way. If you want to test drive one, I could check with my father if we can borrow his for a ride.
- Great! Skärholmen had one, but they didn’t let me test drive it.
- Oh? Well, then it’s hard to sell cars…
He also said that 299 000 was last year’s model, and he couldn’t do anything about the 314 000, but he could put in four winter tires and a GPS system for free.
Guess where I’m buying that car?
