IT: S (n) – Information Technology – the branch of engineering that deals with the use of computers and telecommunications to retrieve, store and transmit information.

Hora: S (v) – Whore – A person who is unscrupulous, especially one who compromises their principles for gain. In this case, one who makes the goals of his customer become the goals of himself.

In short: It is me.

I’ve been in the IT consulting business for the last fifteen years (and as a hobby ten years before that), working with a broad mix of technologies. I work full time as EMEA Senior Network Engineer for SuccessFactors and some projects in my own company PAL Communications. My competence stands mainly on two strong legs – the networking leg (firewalls, routers, switches, etc) and the Windows leg (Active Directory, Exchange, etc). The.. ehm.. third leg is the UNIX/Linux leg where I’m an experienced administrator, although not the same top-of-the-line expert as within the other two areas. I’m also a good scripter, no matter what script language you prefer. I’ve deliberately avoided specialization to one narrow area only, since I believe it’s possible (and sometimes needed) to be broad and deep at the same time. Hire me, and I’ll prove it.

Apart from my technical skills, I’m easy to get along with for almost all people, and I’ve got the business skills necessary to understand the needs of my customer. I’m very logical and a great trouble shooter, and known to always do anything within my capabilities to reach the goals of my customer. I’ve been a speaker at a bunch of events over the years, I’m an appreciated teacher and I’ve written articles for a couple of IDG magazines. I’m a certificate junkie, and I’m close to get my first 100 of them.

I’m living in Stockholm with my lady (The Jennyral) and a bunch of animals (a bengal, a maine coon and two labrador retrievers). I play competitive pinball and participate in most major tournaments in Northern Europe and at the European and World championships. I’m a rodent and go to all AIK football games home and away, and sometime even on hockey games. I like to travel, and when I’m not traveling in my job, to play pinball or to watch AIK, I go on vacations with my Jennyral. My mother works within foreign aid, so usually we stalk her to some weird country. Other than that, I work with my hobby, which means my hobby is to work.

This is the place where I write about everything from techie stuff I run into in my profession, to small anecdotes from my wandering life, or anything else I find amusing to write about. And remember, you don’t have to read it.
